God Father Death

Just think if you have 13 children and were trying to find a god father for your youngest child and you couldn’t find one. What would you do? Jakob (Jacob) and Wilhelm Grimm wrote this ironic story and it was written in German but was translated by Dana Gioia. In this story death has been chosen as the God Father Death, and it has a plotline that leads to irony.

First off it starts off that he is so poor that he can barely feed his family and has 13 children, which then means worlds in chaos. The curious conflict is that he needs to find a godfather to help him support his youngest child because he barely can support 12 children now he has 13 children so that is why he needs a godfather. The Father finally finds a godfather, who said I will make you a rich man, but when you heal the ill and I’m standing by their feet do not heal, because they are going to die. This means that his life is at stake because the doctor is going to save them. If he does save them and death is standing by his feet, the doctor will be killed which then ends in death.

The short story God Father Death is an Irony plotline that leads to death. If the Doctor didn’t heal the king he would still be alive, and it also he would have been king with the beautiful wife. This a irony plotline and a well writen short story, as meaning is that you can't cheat death more than twice.
